Indianapolis, IN (July 08, 2010) – Zach Veach, Andretti Autosport driver in the USF2000 National Championship series, announced today his first safe driving program, “Ziggy’s Safe Driving,” will be held July 27, 2010 at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Ill., in conjunction with Mazda North America. During the event, he will also release his self-made Droid application as part of a larger message to end distractive driving.

“We’ve been working to get Ziggy’s Safe Driving off the ground for some time now,” said Veach. “My first teen safe driving program will be the first of many and we hope to have several more yet this year. I’d like to thank Mazda and Autobahn for helping to make it happen.”

Ziggy’s Safe Driving will take place at Autobahn Country Club and is open to 16 students 16 years of age or older. Students can register for the July 27th event at two Mazda Dealerships until July 23, Continental Mazda in Naperville, Ill. and Autobarn Mazda in Countryside, Ill.

Each of the 16 students who partake in “Ziggy’s Safe Driving” will receive a Zach Veach t-shirt, a voucher for a free download of his anti-texing app and a signed copy of his yet-to-be released book. Further, each student will receive four tickets for the Harrah’s Autobahn Grand Prix presented by Mazda which includes a selection of motor racing that includes the USF2000 National Championship, Star Mazda, the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup, the Mustang Challenge, the SCCA Pro-Racing Trans-Am Championship Series, the Porsche Cayman Interseries and the Volkswagen Jetta TPI Cup, all to be held at Autobahn Country Club July 31-August 1.

Fifteen-year-old Veach, a native of Stockdale, Ohio and named to CNN's "Intriguing People" list in May 2010, is leveraging his youth and unusual occupation as a platform to expose fellow teens to the road ahead. In addition to his safe driving program, Veach is the author of the upcoming book, “99 THINGS YOU WISH YOU KNEW BEFORE YOU TURNED SIXTEEN,” an advocate for safer driving in conjunction with Oprah Winfrey’s “No Phone Zone” and the national spokesman for FocusDriven, an advocacy group for victims of motor vehicle crashes involving drivers using their cell phones.

Zach Veach is a 15-year-old autoracing driver that competes in the Indy Racing League’s ‘Road to Indy’ USF2000 Championship Series for Andretti Autosport. Veach began his racing career at age 12 in go-karts. It was in 2007, where Veach caught the eye of Dave Fisher, father of IZOD IndyCar Series driver and team owner, Sarah Fisher. In late 2009, Veach signed with Jensen Motorsport to compete in the Atlantic Championship Series, before it folded in early 2010. Veach has created a safe-driving initiative: Ziggy’s Teen Safe Driving Campaign, with seminars and supportive school programs to be held in race markets where Veach competes in 2010. He’ll release his first published iPhone and Droid application, due out in mid-2010, to help consumers avoid dangerous text messaging while driving. Further, he’s set to author a book, due out on his 16th birthday, “99 Things You Wish You Knew Before Getting Your Drivers License,” which will serve as a supplemental read for driver’s educations programs across the country, set to be released Dec. 9, 2010.
